GOLF
The beautiful 27-hole Norman K. Probstein Golf Courses in
Forest Park offers a variety of golfing experiences. A new
pro shop debuted in the fall of 2002, and features Ruthie's
Grille. Greens fees are reasonable. Please call 314-367-1337, Ext 1,
to book your tee time!
PADDLE BOATS
The Forest Park Boat House offers pedal and row boat cruises
through the canals into the Grand Basin. It also has a family-friendly
café for lakeside dining.
WALKING, BIKING AND BLADING
The Forest Park path system is approximately 7 miles long
and travels the circumference of the park. An asphalt path
is recommended for cyclists and roller-bladers. A softer
surface crushed stone path is available for walkers and
joggers.
TENNIS
Dwight Davis Memorial Tennis Center is named for the donor of
the Davis Cup international tennis trophy. Davis was a one-time
St. Louis Parks Commissioner who brought active recreation
and tennis to Forest Park in 1912. Boasting 19 courts and
a new gym and training center on the lower level, the Tennis
Center also hosts the World Team Tennis home games of the
St. Louis Aces each summer, which bring some of the best
professional players to St. Louis. The Cheshire Lodge offers
guests free admission passes to the Tennis Center! Racquet rental is available on site.
FISHING
If you like fishing, you're in luck: fishing is allowed
on all lakes in Forest Park, except where restrictions are
posted and, of course, the fish hatchery.
ICE SKATING
One of the nation's largest outdoor skating rinks, the Steinberg
Memorial Skating Rink has been a popular attraction since
1957. The facility offers ice skating during the winter
and roller skating during the summer.
Forest Park is a stone’s
throw away from the hotel should you decide to walk to some
of the attractions. However, being the world’s third
largest park, may we suggest you take our van?
The Cheshire van holds 6 and runs 7 days a week from 7 a.m. - 10:30 p.m.
